Hi,
I’m removing a ON / OFF light switch where o have two red wires, one in COM & the other in L1

I have purchase a ON / OFF Light switch with neon but asking for advice on connecting these two wires.
There is as follows.
2 x N
2 x L
2 x Earth

Do I put my incoming red wire into one L and the outgoing red into the other L

In the metal back box in the wall two blacks are in block connector.
Aldo two earth wires are in a block connector.

I would like neon to come ON / OFF when switch is also ON / OFF
Please see photos. thanks.

Yes one red wire into each L terminal.

Corresponding blacks into N terminals.

You need the outgoing load cable at the neon end.
You will need to find out which cable is which.

Hi,
So the red wire that was in COM now goes in L SUPPLY correct ?

The red wire that was in L1 now goes in L LOAD correct ?

Like this ?

The black in the same cable as red going to Supply also needs to go into supply.

The black in the other cable as red going to Load also then needs to go into Load.

Hi,
Just to recap his is what I’ve done etc.

RED in SUPPLY live always.
RED IN LOAD only live when switch is on.

BLACK in SUPPLY
BLACK in LOAD

EARTH wires in EARTH terminal on switch.

When I operate light switch the NEON is ON when the light is ON and OFF when light is OFF.

To me this is correct as it works, would you agree ?

Also question about earth wires.
They are supposed to go on light switch terminal or in metal back box ?
I ask as when I screw it to wall the connection is made from terminal on switch to metal back box but asking first before I screw it up.

No metal on front of switch.
Front is all plastic.

so by the sounds of it I can put the earth either in switch earth terminal OR in metal back box connection. correct ?

Thanks for your help.

Nope it inside in a conservatory.
The neon is because we have somebody who nearly always forgets to switch off the light.

The whole point of this change was the light can’t be seen when door is shut hence neon switch outside of the room in question.
