On a job yesterday to change the feed cables to 3x75kW chiller pump motors.
3 pumps situated downstairs and cables had to come from local isolators upto ceiling height on ladder system. 30' across the ceiling on heavy duty trays, through the floor upto the ceiling of the switchroom. Back 30' across this ceiling and then drop about 4' for top entry into the main distribution cabinets. We then had to 'bend' them into a 8" high horizontal cable ducting on top of the cabinets for about 8' before bending them again to drop vertical inside another 8" wide cable ducting before feeding them at right angles into the actual switch compartment.
Original cables were 3 core 35sqmm swa. We replaced them with 70sqmm swa!
Must have lost half a stone in sweat! On the way home drank no less than 6 bottles of fanta and never needed to go for a slash all day!
My hat goes off to you guys that do this kind of thing for a living every day! Think I'll try and stay in the factory just fixing the motors in future!
