Hi, i'm new to this so forgive my ignorance;

Having had a doorway from house to garage recently fitted I'm fitting an extra switch in the garage so that the light can be turned on and off from either side of the garage.

There is currently a one way switch with two red wires connected, the first to L1 and the second to com.

Having read the how to section I'm still not clear on exactly what I need. A) Will I need one new or two new two way switches? ie will they both have to be two way switches?
B) Is the wire that I need to connect the two switches a 4 core wire, ie Yellow, Blue,Black and Earth? Or will a standard 3 core wire do with black brown and earth do?

The cable between the 2 switches will be 3 core and earth.

Diagrams are available in the wiki accessed via the top of this page. :wink:

Thanks Steve, found it on the Wiki now that you pointed it out.

How about the switches, will I need two 2 way switches?

Two.

Yes. If your existing switch has an L2 terminal then it is already a two-way switch being used in one-way mode.

Yes.

Or will a standard 3 core wire do with black brown and earth do?
No.

Cheers guys,
that's cleared it up for me.

Back to B&Q for the correct wire and another switch.

:oops:
