Hi All,

I have these open backed stairs which I think are pine (if anyone can see differently please advise).

Im having a dark (espresso) wood floor put in downstairs and I decided I wanted to dye the stair treads the same colour as the floor.

However my research on wood dye seems to say to me that it might end up a blotchy mess with pine.. so can anyone advise what to do.

Im thinking...

either dye the treads then wax

or use a coloured oil / danish / tung.

or something better (not carpet)

Thanks

Rich

Hi Richiedc

Osmo do a range of coloured wax/oils from white to black and are available in tester pots so you can trial them. It's a quality product aswell. Just google "osmo".. beware though, the oak tones don't bear well on pine but the dark tones do!!
