Options for increasing hot water pressure - all electric.

Hi,

Looking for some advice please. First floor flat in a 3 storey building, good cold water pressure, all electric (mains gas not available at the location) off-peak water heater which can be "boosted". Hot water cylinder (combination) is about 4 feet above floor level.

Water pressure in bathroom is ok - adjacent to cupboard where tank is located - however kitchen pressure is abysmal. Think this is due to distance, the height differential between the tank and the kitchen sink taps and the small bore of the pipes at the mixer tap.

Central heating is using electric storage, shower is electric.

What's the best way to increase the pressure? Is an unvented system (to give mains pressure hot water and possibly a thermostatic mixer shower) an option?

Cheaper option would be an electric under sink water heater in the kitchen supplying mains pressure hot water to the kitchen tap only.

What sort of wattage should I be looking at? Do you know if they have reservoirs or are they heat on demand?

Many do both. Ariston do a reasonably priced one, which stores 10 litres of water and is 3 kW. You may need a PRV on the cold inlet, depending on pipe volume for heated water to expand into. A 10 litre unit should be plenty for a kitchen sink.

There are also higher rated instantaneous units (7-12kW) made by Santon, Redring etc, that will supply a kitchen tap, or a mixer shower, one outlet at a time.
