Options to remove support for two RSJs

Hi

I have a ground floor extension which currently has two rsjs supported by a brick column.

I would like to remove if possible. Is it possible to weald a plate to each side and remove support?

It is a single storie extension so only the flat roof is being supported.
If I cant do this i assume it is ok to replace with a smaller steel pole bolted to the rsj's and floor.

What would be the best sort of place to go to to get one made up. I would like an attractive post if i have to go down this route

Why dont you replace the two RSJ's for one big one?

Normally, piers are used where one big beam would be too deep, and it is unlikely that two smaller sections can be welded to span a wider opening

But without the sizes we wont be able to even guess
