I am installing a new bathroom and while I was draining the hot and cold water system I noticed orange foamy gunk (not in the hot water storage tank) in the small header tank that is linked to the central heating.

Here's the history:-

A while ago I did drain the central heating system.
This was to replace a rusted Grundfos pump in the airing cupboard.
At the same time I used Sentinal x400 sludge remover and x100 inhibitor.
I followed the instructions and finally put the inhibitor in the header tank as I began to refill the system.

My set up is a two pipe open vented system which is mains-fed.

What is this residue though? Is it the system cleaning itself or is it bad news?

Cheers everybody Giraffe.

Well it's like a lot of TV stuff which has the undesired effect, I never thought about ****ing in someones tank, I have now, wonder how many other people have since
