I have just seen that the top step leading to our front door has sunk and pulled away from the doorstep, as well as from the sidewall. Is this a straightforward repair for someone? I don't think there is anything untoward or more suspicious happening here (eg subsidence).

Presumably it needs lifting up the bricks and relaying the foundation layer before replacing the bricks? Or is there more to it than that? What needs to be laid underneath the bricks to stop the bricks sinking again? Thank you

Thanks. I don't know. We moved in 12 years ago and they were laid long before that. I assume it's just been wear and age that has caused it

Lift the blocks out, add a little sand and replace. B rush dry sand into the gaps. Nice simple diy job

Lay a weed membrane, too, if you've time, or the grass will take over.
