I fancy installing hot and cold water in my garage. The garage is about 35 metres from the rear of my house, at the end of my back garden. I plan to run pipework from my kitchen sink, along a fence and into the garage.

I'm concerned about burst pipes abd other possible problems.

Has anyone undertaken such a job? Any suggestions on pipework material to use? Are there any regs I need to bear in mind?

ta very much

Would not run hot and cold pipes along a fence or just the cold for that matter.
Look at running a cold feed to the garage, well insulated and buried, and the use a point of use boiler for the hot service.

Plastic pipework is less likely to freeze. You need to consider the bore of your pipework it will need to be large. It will still need to be insulated, non return valves fitted to the cold water supply & the bigger question, will your current boiler be able to cope with the demand??

and the insulation will need to be waterproof... otherwise it will become useless first time it rains.

At 35 Metres away, when you turn on the hot tap you will probably have to wait till a week next Wednesday for the hot water to get there!

You may find it useful to run a single cold water supply down to the garage and have an electric heater installed (it will be easier to heat water down there than to get it piped down).

Other alternative is a kettle..?

If I actually read other peoples posts I would not make so many stupid duplicated suggestions
