Outside Light?

P

person

Bought an outside light for the house to replace an old one. The one I bought says it automatically goes on when it gets dark although you can change the settings. On the box it says to have an internal over-ride switch. I am assuming the wiring I already have fro the old light ie switched live, neutral, earth is fine?

Yes, unless you want to set the light to be on constantly (like if you were having a BBQ in the garden)

If that were the case you would need a third wire as the over-ride.

Some lights have what is called "pulse mode" so you can set the light to be on constant by flipping the switch off then on. But your light doesnt have that.
