ive wired an outside plug from the feed for the outside light but when i put a plug checker in it its showing no earth any idea what the problem is and how i can get over it thanks
Where does the feed for the outdoor light come from? If it comes from a lighting circuit, you should disconnect it entirely, and take a feed from somewhere appropriate (a ring/radial socket circuit). If the outdoor light comes from a socket circuit, it should have been fused down to 3A/5A so will not be suitable for connecting to a socket outlet anyway.
How old is your house? When was it last rewired? Does you lighting circuit have an earth conductor and have you connected it properly? Those socket testers compare voltages between the conductors, and it is looking for 240v between phase and earth, so if you have a disconnected earth somewhere it will be picking up some induced v's and show up as a dodgy earth.
