i have put in new worktops and replaced my old cooker with a single oven and a hob. the hob is 5.5kw and the oven is 2.3kw. Can i use the wire from the control unit of my old cooker and wire that into the hob and then wire the oven into the hob.

Cable calculations are fine (saying that the cable is 6.0mm)

Personally I would install a cooker point with combined socket outlet low level under work-top (behind unit) with suitable isolation above. Then you can connect hob to load side of cooker point and oven to be plugged into socket outlet (oven needs to be protected by a 13Amp fuse/ plug-top).

This is my own recommendation as other wiring methods are available, but I see this as being tidy just because flexible cables drilled through worktops are a pet hate.

1)6.0mm(main supply) to 45Amp isolation switch
2)6.0mm from isolation switch to cooker point under worktop
3)6.0mm from cooker point (LOAD) to hob
4)Oven plug-top, plugged into 13Amp socket.
