I have an Belling db900e electric cooker where the main oven has stopped heating up, everything else works ok including oven light, fan and grill

Any suggestion on the cause of the problem

Thanks Colin

I will presume this is a fan oven and the timer is not on auto.

Turn the power off and remove the rear plate that covers the oven fan. You should see the element behind it, quite often if it has failed you will see obvious damage, splits, deformed, blown metal, flattened sections on the round element bar.

If not remove the element and check it for continuity, it is usually around the 25 ohm or so range.

On some bellings you have to remove the rear plate at the back of the oven to gain access to the bolts or screws holding the element in, in which case you can test it without removing the element from the oven cavity (you could always do this anyway)
