Hi Gents,

We are fitting new units and having a tidy up in the kitchen. There is an oven and a ceramic hob, the oven switch (which includes a mains socket) is located in the wall next to the oven but directly above the ceramic hob, about two feet above it. Is this OK above the hob or do today's requirements require it to be moved ?

Many thanks,
Andy.

No.

It is best moved so it is at least 300mm from the hob (and sink if adjacent).

Best practice is to put it within 2m of both appliances for easy access in case of isolation, which may be impossible if there is a hob-top fire.

EDIT: Fffffffffffff........fast typer!
