hello,

I have an electric Delonghi ESF-461-ST Oven which is around about 5 years old. Whilst coming up to temperature (200 deg) earlier today, the RCD for the cooker tripped out. Now it has been reset the oven wont heat past 100 degrees.

Is there a thermal fuse or temperature sensor which is likely to be to blame, or are there any other reasons why this fault has occured?

thanks in advance.

(off to order takeaway......)

Hi fizzler

You may have a dual circuit element in your oven one side of which has blown hence the trip.

If not then the thermostat is at fault, but if fault was here then I would have expected the RCD to trip again, unless the RCD is not sensing faults anymore.

The RCD requires to be tested electrically by a qualified electrician with an special RCD tester that checks that it still works electrically as the test button only checks its mechanical trip.

Hope this helps

Unless the problem with the thermostat isn't creating an earth fault...

Unlikely.

Why?

as the test button only checks its mechanical trip.
What does that mean?
