In my loft, I have the overflow pipes, in white shiny hard plastic, with solvent-cemented fittings, coming out of the cold cistern and the F&E. Both tanks are on a platform to improve the head. The overflows run pretty well horizontally straight out of the sides of the tanks, and arch gracefully down until they exit at the eaves.

Due to leg injuries, I find it difficult to to climb over or under these oveflow pipes to get to the far end of the loft (it is boarded). I would like to change the runs, with a 90 degree elbow to run them vertically down to floor level, then another so they run almost horizontally along the floor to the eaves.

Is there anything I should bear in mind when doing this? I thought I would give them a slope of 1 or 2 inches over the 10 foot run, is that enough? I don't want to trip over them, of course.

Sounds fine. Don't worry about having anything more than a minimal fall on the horizontal section. If it helps you can join the overflow pipes together (well below level of tank connections) and run just one pipe to outside.
