Oxypic-Stops leaks fast

Personally, I wouldn't go near anything for which the distributor's web site makes the following claims:

(i) "Its magic".

(ii) "gives a protective coat to all internal parts".

(iii) "we cannot yet give an unconditional guarantee on plastic pipe work".

Oxypic is non-toxic. In case of contact with skin or eyes wash thoroughly with water. Do not swallow, if swallowed rinse mouth well see doctor. KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN.

But the thing is non toxic so why do you have to goto the doctor if you swallow it ?????

"Toxic" means poisonous. This stuff is just an irritant, so, like pretty much any chemical inhibitor, not good for swallowing or washing your eyeballs with.

We used gallons of it a few years ago.

A customer who is notoriously tight with a large hotel/golf club had three 300,000 BTu boilers. Two of them had leaking HEs. He wanted a cheap bodge, and found this stuff on the internet.

We said that it was unlikely to work but he insisted, so, as the boilers were scrap anyway we tipped it in.

The idea of it is that when it is heated and mixed with water it solidifies where it encounters oxygen. I do not doubt that it could work for small leaks, but these were cracked heat exchangers so were expanding/contracting.

In this case it just turned the water all over the boiler room floor to a deep molasses colour the following day.....

.....Sounds a bit like the old dodge of cracking an egg into the radiator of a car with a leaking cooling system....... It might hold everything together for long enough to sell the car, but you know it really needs fixing properly

You mustn't use the yolk or the smell will give you away. You only need ther white of the egg...
