Packing UB with tiles/slabs?

Hello

I have a 146 wide beam on a 225 wide solid brick wall, the beam is positioned directly in the middle.

Is it ok to pack out below the 1st course of bricks with paving slabs used for gardens?

If not are roofing tiles still acceptable? If so what tiles would be suitable?

Sorry the beam will have padstones below I mean above the beam where it will meet the brickwork above not below.
