Grateful for any advice please. I need to install one end of a UB (178x102x19) on a brick nib that needs some building up before the padstone can be put ion. It’s a Victorian tenement so big bricks and lots of soft mortar. The SE specified a minimum 150mm bearing on a 200x100x200 padstone and provided a neat diagram for stitching in the bricks. The reality is a bit different as there is an existing lintel in the way. Please see attached pdf for my proposed approach – would this be acceptable? Rgds John

Apologies, see new image attached here. One concern is that the brickwork is victorian with thick layers of mortar so perhaps there could be movement as a result of the new load. Then again the SE has looked at it so perhaps I'm unduly concerned.
