Hello all :D

Can you use padstones on their side or must they be used a certain way up ? The ones I've got are 102 high and 140 deep, but my walls are 100mm so I want to use the 102 dimension as the depth i.e. use the stone on its side.

Also, can padstones be cut to size or should they be left as cast for strength ?

Thanks,

P.J.

Just for info, I've used a concrete over-door lintel, cut to length instead of padstones. Buildling regs guy said that's fine and that 200mm wasd an absolute minimum, 300mm long is preffered.

Cheers,

P.J. :D

they are prestressed and strictly speaking should only be used in load bearing situations in the way stated (they will have top cast on the top)
They are so cheap just go and get a 10mm wide lintel and use that it is ok to cut them shorter.
