Oh dear. Depends on degree of cracking, was some attempt made at paste removal? If its just in a few places try wetting the emulsion and scraping off when paste reacts and bubbles up . If it's all over then Im afraid you will need to line and repaint. Not practical to try removing paint now.
Good luck..

thank you i have not been to see the job so dont no what damage it is in but just been told its only little bits but dont they all say that. im on day rate so i dont mind. i have heard people sat zinsser paint will stop it from cracking but i can not see how this will work. can you not just fill the cracks? this is a thing i have never come across so dont no how to tackle this job? thanks carl

Zinsser spirit based will definitely hold it together and allow overcoating after 1 hour . then Red Devil lightweight filler -ready mixed -will fill all the tiny holes/ cracks ..Total outlay £20.00 materials ...worth every penny ;)

hello i hae zinsser is a spray can and zinsser b.i.n but thats shellac base will this do the job? thanks carl

Once its cracked its cracked, you cant stop it, so now you have sort out the cracking bits.

So the best way I have found in this situ, is to rub down the cracking bits, and I take you mean not actual cracks, but like a slight puckering of areas.

If its like hairline cracks, you canr rub them out, but if its puckering, then still sand them, then dab some diluted oilbase undercoat, fill where there might be a slight indent or ridge, Uc again, then when dry, paint as normal, this will sort the problem. :)
