Painting a radiator with emulsion

Just decorated my front room which included giving the bay radiator a fresh coat of white satin radiator paint. Finish is pretty good, but as the bay is big, it looks like a big white block in the room as the rest is a kind of claret colour.

Can radiators be painted with emulsion? Or is this doomed for failure? If it can be done, is it simply a light sand to key and brush it on?

It will discolour with the heat.

Hows about the satin version for wood and metal? Would this discolour?

Even worse, you need to look for coloured radiator paints that are designed to stay the same colour as they get hot.

I did all the radiators in my last place with the same satinwood paint I'd bought for the skirting. Looked fine, and did not discolour in the further few years I was there.

Car paint? That has to withstand getting very hot under the summer sun and you can get any colour.

Just get oil based satin mixed to your chosen colour and it will be fine.
