a matt paint like brilliant white matt emulsion would be fine although its not quite brilliant!!!

also a white water based undercoat would work well

Is it bare wood? If so treat knots, use solvent primer to cover the knotting, then two coats of solvent based satinwood/eggshell. I wouldnt use emulsion or water based paint on a barf panel. ok on walls etc.

If it's laquer/ or melamine, rub down a little to key, use dulux supergrip or zinnsser bin primer, then two coats of satinwood/eggshell.

good luck..

As above, quite like satin wood, Looks the buisness and will last as its near water etc. Dont use emulsion, wont last 5 minutes.
