Hello

My ceiling has wooden panels on the ceiling, painted white.

I'm having a new kitchen put in and would like to paint this over the weekend so it's nice and new.

I'm not sure what type of paint is on the wood.

Can I just paint over it? If so, what type of paint should I use?

Many thanks!

Chances are you should sand the ceiling down first before painting, to ensure the new paint has a key to adhere to, to ensure it won't peel off.

Only a light sand all over though, no need to go too crazy.

It would be useful to know the type of paint already on the ceiling, and more importantly what type of finish you want this time.

For wood, gloss can be used (THOUGH I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND IT ON A CEILING, IT'LL LOOK HORRIBLE or satinwood or eggshell.

Emulsion could even be used on a wooden ceiling if you really wanted to, assuming the surface is properly prepared.

Pictures may be useful.
