I plan to tart my wheels up as im too tight to spend the £300 on a refurb!
The existing paint is pretty good, but there are a few areas of minor flaky stuff.
What id like to know is about the priming.
I will scotch pad the wheels, and degrease etc but should i use an etch primer all over, or normal primer considering there are a few areas with paint missing.
Any tips are much appreciated.

I'm no expert here by any means but I always use etching primer on aluminium, plastics and galvanised materials, with the thought that the more adhesion the better. I didn't find any problems with etching primer on previous painted surfaces either, providing they are well keyed and perfectly clean.
John :)
