we bought some b&q wood satin for our doors and skirting boards... having painted it on, it ended up looking more like gloss than anything else...

we have now bought some eggshell to paint over it... but before we do, would i be right in assuming that all we need to do is to give the satin painted doors and skirting boards a quick rub down first?... the colours are essentially identical.

cheers

Satin goes less glossy over time. Eggshell will go completely matt and will get very grubby around the handles. Try leaving it for a few weeks.

If the eggshell is water based youll need more than a quick rub down..it doesnt stick very well.

If its oil based then youll be ok with a general rub down.

Some satins do come up very shiny, im not keen they can look like gloss thats lost its sheen cos its been thinned out too much
