Hi,

Im thinking of buying a mahogany table from a second hand shop. Its very shiny and smooth, however i want to paint it cream.

Is it possible to paint mahogony like this?

Thanks x

It is possible but you will need the right preparation.
Hardwoods like mahogany have oils/resins that bleed through paint so you will need a stain blocking primer such as Zinsser B-I-N. It can be applied directly to shiny surfaces without sanding but I would advise you to give the table a light sand with 240 grit wet and dry paper to guarantee adhesion.
