Before I start my next project, I thought I would get some tips from this forum after my disastrous attempt at painting red walls ( see earlier topic).

I will shortly have some cupboards and shelves installed by a joiner. Much of the material will be MDF.

How do I go about painting this material? Do I need a primer, undercoat and top coat ?

thanks

Charles

Yes, ...Yes...and Yes...

Id got for oil based wood primer or thinned out undercoat for the first one..its doesnt cause the surface to fur up as much aswater based..sand down with 120 grade abrasive paper...then two coat of oil based eggshell finish.

Thanks Zampa.

What is a hard sleeve foam glossing cage roller and where would I buy one?

Most decorating centres do them..crown certainly do, acorn make them

Its a traditional 7 inch hard sleeve with a 2/3 mm layer of foam around it..sometimes called a 'glosser'
