Painting onto bathroom ceiling

Hi everyone

I have put up plasterboard (standard) in my bathroom and put 2 coats of multi finish on. It has now dried out and I am going to paint it with bathroom paint.

Should I prime it with a mixture of 5:1 water: bathroom paint then allow to sry before applying the paint as it is.

If this was a paying job I'd use contract emulsion 5:1 , reputation with customers etc. But diluted vinyl doesn't always peel, and you won't want to buy contract at £30 plus just for one ceiling.

It's my own bathroom so not a paying customer.

So are you saying that if I dilute my paint in the ratio of 5:1 wateraint, and apply a base coat of this, it is then okay to follow on with a coat of paint as it comes in the tin?
