Painting over gloss paint

I recently stripped off old pine cladding only to find someone in the past had painted the walls with what looks like gloss paint.

I want to paint the room with a normal emulsion paint (although one for the bathroom).

Do I need to paint over the gloss paint with some type of primer first?

no just make sure you are using a decent make of emulsion

make sure you give the wall a sand with a fine paper to give it a key as well
