Had the bathroom replastered, skimmed and then painted using a kitchen and bathroom paint - except that I now want to change the colour !!!!

Was thinking of putting a couple of coats of white emulsion over it first to take the colour away before painting the colour I want but I've read on other posts that covering with emulsion is heading for trouble -- what will happen if I do this ? Bubbles ?? Flaking paint ?? Poisonous gas ??

So...what should I be doing?

Can I go directly over the top of it with the new colour of kitchen and bathroom paint (perhaps a few coats)? Is there prep needed first?

Cheers

Either go straight over it or use an oil based undercoat.

WARNING: Make sure you clean all the oil and soap off the walls or it will peel.

You mean go straight over it with a different colour kitchen and bathroom paint (and not matt emulsion ) ?

(Cheers for the reply by the way !!!!)

Yes. Don't sandwich emulsion between the two.
