Hi. We are trying to paint a room in our new home which was covered in green pen graffitti - all 4 walls. See photo! the other colours are painted over ok.

The pens smudges on painting and continues to show through the paint. I have heard about sealing paintwork with stuff - can you recommend what to use. Is this approach OK to use in an old stone walled place where i am supposed to let the walls breath?

You could paint the wall with stain block first. Ordinary oil-based undercoat is cheaper and may do the job. You would be best to paint the entire wall with it first.

Damp proof sealer paint would probably do the job as well, that supposedly lets the wall 'breathe'.

Zinsser water based sealer  £40 to do a 10x10 foot room .Covers and binds prob. surfaces a treat
