we had a wall with old plaster on. We have recently had the wall skimmed and in places it reacted and looked like it had sand stuck to the wall! Sanded this off and painted and it blistered and peeled off! HELP please.

Did you use a mist coat first, i.e. 50/50 emulsion and water?

Yes thanks. I used a 50/50 mist coat. This has also blistered off.

how long has the wall had to dry out? When you say it looks like its got sand stuck to the wall, is it a bit crumbly or soft in these areas? It could be that the plaster was off before it was applied. How big an area are you talking about?

wall had about 10 days to dry out. don't know about the going off thing cos was not present when applied. Husband thinks deposit was more salty than sandy! area not crumbly. Have sanded down and applied 50/50 PVA - shall see what happens...

Plaster takes up two 6 weeks to dry,and in this whether you are best waiting for about 8-12 weeks.

Did you use something like Supermatt, This is a Breather type emulsion specially for new plaster.
