Painting/restoring stair rods

    Looking for ideas about restoring or painting stair rods while replacing ghe carpet. They are brass but looking dull and want to create a more modern look.

    Brass can look nice. We had them when I was a kid.
    Elbow grease followed by some lacquer would keep them shiny

    Or dispense with them all together? Gripper works

    I think they are antique brass so may not polish up much but worth a try.

    Antique (not "antique finish" ) will polish well
