Painting Shed/Summerhouse

Hi I want to paint my summerhouse, currently its a deep red colour but I want to paint it a light blue colour (see website below, bottom middle immage)

Firstly what paint should I use and secondly will it cover the deep red? If not how can i cover it?

Unfortunately if you use a translucent woodstain the shade of the
original coating will show through and you will not achieve the desired shade.

I would suggest that you apply an opaque woodstain, various companies produce opaque stains but you tend to get what you pay for.
