I've got a slight problem with an old hardwood window frame that I am attempting to paint, hopefully someone could advise?
The frame is over 100 years old, and had a varnished finish. Upon stripping the varnish and sanding, it seems that the timber has possibly been treated with a woodstain or dye.
I've applied a combined primer/undercoat to the frame, and here's where my problem is: The paint seems to be soaking somthing through the timber and turning pink! I've applied 4 coats now, hoping to obliterate the previous finish, but every coat is still ridden with pink streaks!
Is there something that I can apply to seal in whatever is running into the paint? or is a further coat or two of undercoat likely to solve the problem?
