I will soon be painting an exterior mahogany door and frame, it is currently finished with mahogany stain but i am looking to paint it black.
so are the steps below correct or am i missing something

1. Remove all door furniture.
2. Sand the door and frame to remove the gloss finish.
3. Put a coat of Zinser Bullseye 123 primer onto door & frame.
4. Fill any holes and dents in door & frame with isopon easy sand.
5. Sand down the isopon.
6. Lightly sand the door & frame.
7. Apply a coat of Crown trade undercoat, (grey in colour).
8. lightly sand the undercoat,
9. Apply the top coat, crown trade gloss.

Depending on the amount of dust created from the sanding, vacuming the dust out of the jointss may give a better finish.

Good luck with the process.

Prime the filler before undercoat. This will do two things, it will prime the filler and give the undercoat a good key, plus it will seal the filler and any small amounts of dust.
