I want to remove only part of a sound lath&plaster partition, with the vertical cut along the outside edge of one of the existing struts. What's the best way to actually cut through the plaster and the laths ? Obviously, I don't want to crack the plaster that will stay.

Should I stitch drill it ?

Hammer & chisel (Ouch!) ?

Use a wood saw (Ouch!) ?

A circular saw with tungsten carbide teeth ?

All suggestions welcome.

I wouldn't use a circular saw over your head. I'd use a grinder to reach the laths then a demolition saw.

You've no idea how pleased I am to hear that !

And I promise not to use one over your head, either.

Nor would I use one over my head.

Luckily, in this case, it's a partition, not a ceiling.

I'd use a grinder to reach the laths

Ah ! Good idea. Thanks.

then a demolition saw.

Erm... wassat, then ?

Thank you for responding.
