You do need a good deal of land to fit a ground source heat pump btw. Passive haus is more about mechanical heat recovery systems and airtightness. Reaching the standard requires some serious heat loss testing and it is pretty rigorous.
You could not go for full passive haus but think about the orinentation of the proposed building and solar gain. I.e go for max insulation and solar gain but don't submit to all the certification testing.
