hey, can anybody clear this up for me please.

have recently passed my 2377 course. a mate of mine has asked me to do some pat testing for him.

what i want to know is can i do this or do i have to be registered to a scheme?

i am a qualified spark but working in industry at the minute. (2381,2391,hnc,onc, nvq3, full apprentiship) and can borrow a pat tester from work.

id obviously be providing him with proper test results and documentation but where do i stand with this legally?

personally i understand it to be a competent person issue but wondered if anybody else knew otherwise?

also he'd be paying me cash in hand which i wouldnt be declaring to the taxman (he gets enough off us workers already i think!)

can anyone see any problems with doing this job?

Do you have adequate insurance cover if there is a claim arising from something you have tested

not got any public liability/indemnity insurance no.

perhaps this is one of the stumbling blocks then.

am a competent person yes so no worries on that score.
