Hi all

looking for advice as to the best products.

We have a 1650 built house and none of the floors are level. In a bedroom to be recarpeted we have old pine floorboards . there is a fireplace with stone hearth. the hearth stone has tilted so that it is at a shallow angle. the leading endge one corner is about 6mm proud - the opposide rear corner is about 6mm below the floorboards.

we will get the floor overboarded, but need to feather out the hearth and the timber flooring around it. we can't use too liquid a compound as we are only doing a small area and it needs to be trowelled on. it has to bond well to both stone and timber. We would welcome product recommendations.

Presumably we should just caulk the boards in the area to be smoothed. What product would you use for caulking?

Why not take the hearth out and reset? this would probably entail removing most of the floor, the fireplace and be just too much of a headache.

all suggestions welcome.

thanks in advance
