Paving Installation

Hi,
I've dug out a small area I want to pave in my back garden, and compacted the soil down tight. It's really firm in place, will it be ok to install pavers on a 25mm layer of slablayer directly to the soil ? Then point the slabs with mortar in the joints.

It would be better to put 50mm of compacted MOT down first. IF you must do without then make it good and strong, like 4:1 and bulk it up closer to 50mm
