I haven't seen any this year....what's going on?
I used to get harished by them everywhere I went from weeks before, last year hardly any, this year so far none at all.

Wait until the Easterners cotton on to that one, a euro for de guy pleese mister

Missus said the same thing last night (no she wasnt at the front door begging!)

I've not seen kids going penny for the guy for a few years now!

The law on the already illegal act of begging was updated in 2003 to stop this kind of ASBO deserving behaviour.

GOOD. :D

Still going strong round the Leigh/Wigan area.
Little scroats hanging around the entrance area at the Supermarkets.

I dont think kids are as resourceful as they used to be but thats not their fault we spoon feed them all the finished item's they need, but you cant buy a guy from tesco's also trick or treat may have displaced the guy ,Is trick or treat American, whats it all about anyway

Damned right they`re not as resourceful  We used to make a half decent effigy and display it in the local town , then sit by it with a sign - we got a few pennies - proper ones , pre decimal  . Used to walk miles looking for empty pop bottles to return to shops , do paper rounds , golf caddying , even used to ask the various " utility " hole digging men if we could run an errand to get their ciggies and ( soft) drinks for their lunches. We could`ve been Alan bleedin` Sugars - except he operated in the Smoke and we were out in the sticks

Wasn't guy fox a catholic terrorist, so anyone asking for a penny for the guy could be charged with funding terrorism, with the way things are in these paranoid times we live in I am surprised none of these kids who are out collecting havent been sent to guantanamo bay.

It was only a few years ago that I realised that bonfire night was to celebrate the fact they caught Guy Fawkes before he blew up parliament. I always thought it was to celebrate the fact that he tried.

As far as I'm concerned, it is because he tried. Shame he didn't succeed.

Why do we always celebrate the loosers and the underdogs.

Are the lapel badges still available "come back Guy Fawkes, all is forgiven"
