I've found a 'junction box' outside and the cable entering it is thicker than normal so presume it's special outside cable but looking at it I just want to clarify what each cable does

RED is Live, GREEN/YELLOW is Earth, BLUE is Neutral and so what is BLACK? Is this also Neutral or is BLUE not neutral?

Need to know as I want to remove it but need to know what each is first.

It seems to be shield by strips of metal as well, again I presume a specialist cable.

Are you sure it's Green&Yellow and not a G/Y sleeve over plain yellow?

More likely just plain yellow and is four-core armoured cable,
in which case the red is most likely live but the others could be anything.

Can you find where it comes from or test with a meter?

If you only want to remove it, it will be best to disconnect from the origin and then you can do what you want.

could be a sleeve but it's definately earth. Have metered and getting 240 on RED, and this where i'm puzzled 110 on BLUE but BLACK is cut right back and i can't get to it.

As for where it comes from I can trace back to a very full outside store but being in a wheelchair can't get to, although I know which fuse isolates it on my fusebox inside.

Need to know cuz if it's dangerous I want it out and not just the fuse switched off, so may need electrician to get rid of it depending on what it is and I don't get spare cash.

it was quite common with 4 core swa cable
Red live
Yellow Earth
Blue or black Neutral

the other 4th core whether Black or blue cut off or safely unused

Paul, could you ask someone to check the store and see what that end of the cable does.

If might be better to relocate the end you want rid of, and retain the circuit to allow it to feed lights, sockets or whatever it covers in the store.
