Just thought to share some before and afters.
Back in May 2014 I bought my first house. A late victorian cottage style house with loads of charm and character. I would never of thought it before but I have totally fallen in love with period properties now and so happy I went for the house I did, bit sad at the age of 25 to be so fixated by period styles.

Anyway over the course of many months I've decorated the downstairs now trying to retain some period charm.

I have also done the kitchen for the time being but want to fit new units within the next year or so.
Apart from these pics I've done so much more all around the house and in the garden. I'm truly loving all this DIY work now :)

That rad is beautiful m8. So too is your detailed cornicing. I hate decorating, but I, like you, fell in love with period properties because they generally are value for money. The Victorians knew how to build houses, and were very skilled in that craft. Now if you request a tradesman to do work on those lovely period features, they will more than likely spurn the work - as they simply don't have the patience or skill to "match" up the challenge tendered by your request.
