I seem to be finding various contradicting opinions on this, but do I need planning permission/building regs for an 8x6 concrete sectional shed with a 7'6" roof that's less than a meter away from from the property boundary?

No you won't need Planning Permission (unless your Permitted Development rights have been restricted or your garden is the size of a sixpence) or Building Regs though within 1m of the building you need to ensure it is largely of a fire resistant construction.

The rules are pretty clear tbh, all here: http://www.planningportal.gov.uk/permission/commonprojects/outbuildings/

That's great thanks for the link. So basically all I need to do is to ensure that a Part-P person does the leccie?
