We have applied for and got approval for an extension on the rear of our property ( 4 meters). Now that new regulations have been introduced we would like to know if we can increase the extension to 6 meters without needing further permission/plans being amended. Many thanks in advance.

The new regulations have not been announced yet. You will have to wait and see like the rest of us.

Today in parliament, it was rejected, and has to come back next week in a watered down form - i think it's had it's chips.

As above, however did you need to apply for permission because PD rights were removed? If so, then even if the extensions were introduced, they wouldn't apply to you because they are PD extensions.

On a side note, the 3m limit may be increased to 6m (semi detached/terraced houses) and the 4m limit may be increased to 8m (detached houses).

Thanks for the replies. No PD wasn't removed, we had a builder in to quote for the works that needed doing and got talking about the supposed changes. It would be purely a case of going as big as we could without having the rigmarole of applying for full planning permission.

If you read the recent press releases, you'll see that the minister involved has waved the white flag in view of the opposition from Middle England, the LPAs and Torygraph readers.

No revised limits have yet been announced. However, in the spirit of craven appeasement which would make the 1938 Munich agreement look like an astounding military victory for Britain on the lines of Agincourt, Blenheim and Waterloo rolled into one, I should not be at all surprised if the limits were to be reduced to 2m and 3m respectively.
