have had problem for ages!!
Seems to be air lock in hot water system.have tried the usual remedy of hose pipe between taps, cures it for a while then it comes back.
problem has got worse since new hot water cylinder and shower pump has been fitted in airing cupboard.the showers work fine and so does the central heating.Any ideas?

It sounds as if your pipework is badly routed and as if the pump is draining the feed tank!

Has the shower pump been fitted correctly with the hot inlet connected to the HW cylinder with an essex or surrey flange and a new dedicated cold supply from the cold storage tank, or has it been fitted with the hot supply teed off the existing hot outlet?

If it is the latter then the shower pump will be sucking air down the open vent each time it is used.

Thanks for quick reply.
will have to check with parents - its their house that has problem.Honestly I think they have been well and truly stitched up though!!

Thinking about it the problem was there before pump/cylinder was installed.Has always been virtually non-existent flow from all hot water taps.Think the person they bought the house from was a dodgy diy'er and installed downstairs shower himself!!

The feed from the cistern to the cylinder should be in 28 mm but few installers do that!

Required under the British Standard!
