peugeot 307 ABS problem.

Hi, Wondered if anyone knows what could be at fault. When I first drive the car and use the brakes the ABS seems to come on to severely and breaking is laboured? after a few minutes of driving the ABS warning light comes on and the breaks seem fine... any ideas?
(Pug 307 hdi,2003,70k)
