This unit is about 6 years old. Previously on a power failure, pressing the ON button would restart it with the correct clock time again, (probably dependent on the time without power}. Lately, after 3 hours without power, pressing the ON button causes the indication light to come on briefly then OFF.

Thinking there might be a rechargeable battery involved, I opened it up. There is a means of backup which I can't identify, it is a flat, rolled up, flexible bag with gel inside. Does anyone know what this means is? (I have seen it before on the display screen for a light probe).

Thinking that it may be a capacitive type of storage, I unplugged the screen from inside the case, to allow more current to charge the means of backup and plugged it back in; after a few hours this worked and now back to normal.

Regards
